When it comes to weeing, I will personally admit that after one too many lagers my aim can be a bit awry to say the least. And, judging by the often liberally sprayed floors of public lavatories, I’m not alone when it comes to the odd poorly aimed pee. Yet that said, surely no man’s misses can be that badly directed or bring about such a deluge that he be subjected to the indignity of this device.

A contraption that rather comically is called the Angel Lap Pillow (天使のひざ枕), and while it helps stop splashes from a rather lax leak, it also prevents spillage from even a pinpoint piddle.

But either way, a man having to micturate in this manner is surely tantamount to taking the piss.

Modern Japanese apartments may well be largely light and less than lacking in the latest goods and gadgetry, but their considerably older and less cared for cousins are often dark and decidedly deficient in devices,

with the more basic even boasting barely enough room to dangle a similarly decaying doll.

With their washlets and wonderful array of anus-related attributes, modern Japanese toilets are a far cry indeed from their purely functional and floor-based forefathers.

However, similarly styled ceramic slippers for one’s feet rather than faeces, and a patterned pot for peeing in, arguably offer a place where many men at least would still be happy to spend more than a few pennies in.

Or even one in which women would be prepared to put in some practice with a newly purchased Shewee.

Perhaps.

Japanese ladies after bigger or even better shaped breasts are currently well catered for, whereas those after beautiful bottoms have been sadly left a bit bereft. Well, until now that is, as those with a desire for a delectable derrière or even getting mauled by something mechanical can now happily rub their rump with this hand-like Hip Roller.

A device that is not only a little dodgy looking but also badly named, as the ‘hip’ being honed is patently the posterior and not part of the pelvis.

More and more restaurants in Tokyo may well be taking steps to separate smokers and non-smokers, although on the whole, tobacco is still tolerated way more than it is in the West. A fact that without a doubt has nothing at all to do with the government holding half of Japan Tobacco, the world’s third largest cigarette company. It’s merely just a coincidence — it must be.

Still, hugely profitable interests aside, it’s plainly not quite the smokers paradise it was several years ago.

or indeed comfortably consuming a coffee.
